If you’re anything like me, you absolutely LOVE the nostalgic things of the world. I have collections of CDs, cassette tapes, old timey cameras, and do physical books count nowadays? Lol.
If you’re planning a wedding with all the vintage items you can get your hands on, this post is for you! Read on and see some images from Caleb and Stevie’s wedding to get all the inspiration for your vintage themed wedding. The wedding took place at JW Crancers in Leavenworth, Kansas on October 23, 2021.
1. Theater Marquee Sign
Reach out to all your connections and see who can pull some strings to give you and your boo a shoutout on their marquee sign. And of course, don’t forget to take a super cute picture in front of it.
2. Light Bulbs + Flowers
I never in my life would have imagined that something so mundane as old light bulbs could look so good as decorations. Whoever came up with this idea has a serious light bulb moment (pun intended).
3. Retro Getaway Car
There are so many options for getaway cars, but the more unique ones are my favorites. I actually cannot tell you whether or not this car (or tank?) actually is, but at least it looks old timey to me! Don’t forget the cans hanging from the back and the classic “just married” sign.
4. Candles Everywhere
These are more of a modern approach to wedding decorations, but I would be remiss if I didn’t mention them in this post. They added such a romantic and elegant feel to their reception that it really tied all of the vintage decorations together for modern times.
5. String Lights
Speaking of tying everything together, you can never go wrong with string lights. They are honestly one of my favorite go-to decorations for weddings. They are also very versatile, you can use them for a vintage look or a country look or even a gothic look. POINT IS, THEY ALWAYS LOOK GOOD.
6. White Wicker Chairs
There’s something about wicker chairs that scream “grandma’s house” to me; in a good way of course. Honestly, grandmas have a great sense of style, and I’ve been told I have the fashion sense of a grandma and I’m honestly proud! Anyway, back to the subject, yes these are a super cute addition to your reception decor and a great way to distinguish the newlyweds’ seating.
7. Vintage Cake Topper
You could honestly go on a thrift store adventure in the search for the cutest cake topper. Of course, I’m sure most of the cake toppers from the olden days are pretty heteronormative, BUTT the good thing about your wedding is that you can make it your own. You can essentially use anything as a cake topper! Just make sure to clean it, of course. A few unconventional ideas are toy animals, action figures, barbies, toy trees, toy dinosaurs, or maybe even a trinket that is very special to your relationship.
I hope these ideas were helpful! Which of these vintage ideas will you be using for your wedding? Let us know in the comments!
